I am Bert Huys, a developer based in Pittem, Belgium.

I have 7 years of experience, working on websites and other applications using different frameworks and tools. My expertise is not limited to the coding itself, I also like to reflect on the UI and UX of my designs to get the most user-friendly results.

My working mentality has been described as professional, precise and versatile, I'm also very capable at presenting my work to the user or client.

Over the years I learned that web-technology can do much more than provide you with a simple website. There has been a lot of variation in my projects, going from an interactive museum-game using multiple screens to a corporate business ERP platform.

Professional experience

• Huur een Stuur | V-Tax | BioDP (2020 - ????)

  Software designer & developer

  Huur een Stuur and V-Tax are part of a corporate group specialised in personal transportation, active in Belgium, France, Monaco and beyond. BioDP is another branch of the group, specialised in bio-degradable packaging.

  My main tasks are to develop and maintain ERP-software, create web-platforms for internal and external use and to design and develop accompanying mobile applications.

  Besides programming I'm also responsible for all manuals, documentation and communication for the users.

  The IT team consists of just 2 people so we are used to work under pressure.

• Ocular (2017 - 2020)

  Multimedia developer

  Ocular is a company specialised in digital experiences.

  During my time at Ocular, my first real job, I learned a lot about teamwork and about pushing internet browsers to their limits.

  There was a lot of variation in projects, I created multiple interactive games for museums, configurators for interior contractors, informative set-ups for fairstands etc.

  The interactive setups often consisted of multiple monitors communicating with eachother, audioguides, joysticks, physical buttons and other hardware.

• 2Design (2017)

  Intern Front-end webdeveloper

  2Design was a branding company specialised in brand-design and webdevelopment.

  During my internship I picked up a lot about the importance of a strong brand. It was my first real step into the professional world as a developer.

  My work consisted of multiple Wordpress websites for which I developed the custom frontend-templates with the accompanying CMS-backend configuration.

• Vercom

  Student job IT support

  Vercom is my father's company and was my first experience with IT in general.

  During my student job I repaired and cleaned hardware, removed malware (including ransomware) and did clean installs of new devices.

Education

In 2017 I graduated as a NMCT student at Howest Kortrijk.
NMCT, or New Media & Communications Technology, is a broad IT education that re-invents itself everyear. During my time in Kortrijk I always opted for the web-oriented elective courses.

Graduating was just the start of a lifetime of learning the latest frameworks technologies, etc. I keep challenging myself to learn new things.
